Job summary

Redhorse Corporation seeks a software professional to perform research across design, development, testing, and utilization of electronic data processing software in a collaborative environment in Virginia.

You will design, develop, and debug applications, work with hardware engineers, analyze user needs, and ensure software standards throughout the lifecycle while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with GitLab and Jira for project management.
• Experience with HPC or data-intensive tech such as Spark or DataBricks.
• Knowledge of low-level systems programming and OS architecture.
• Background applying mathematical models to real-world problems.
• Experience leading technical components or mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in the design, development, testing, and utilization of electronic data processing software.
• Design, develop, and debug applications software and systems that incorporate sophisticated logical and mathematical solutions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan data processing systems for product and commercial software.
• Determine user needs and analyze system capabilities to resolve complex problems.
• Design and develop low-level system software, including compilers, assemblers, utilities, and operating systems.
• Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine design feasibility within cost/time constraints.
• Confer with systems analysts, engineers, and programmers to identify project limitations, performance requirements, and critical interfaces.
• Design and modify software systems using mathematical models to predict outcomes.
• Coordinate software system installations and monitor equipment functioning to meet specs.
• Ensure all software standards are met across the development lifecycle.
• Exercise independent judgment in determining technical objectives and approaches.
