Job summary

Shannon & Wilson is seeking a Pavement Engineer to specialize in planning, design, construction, evaluation, and maintenance of pavement systems for roadways, airports, and other transportation infrastructure. The role blends civil engineering with materials science and geotechnical principles.

The candidate should have 7+ years of pavement engineering experience, PE license eligibility within 3 months, and demonstrated mentoring and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with geotechnical/pavement specialty
• MS or PhD in Geotechnical or Pavement Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license within 3 months of hire
• Mentoring and supervisory experience
• Pavement design methods: AASHTO 1993, PCASE, Gravel Equivalency, AASHTOWare ME, UFC, FAA
• Proficient in flexible and rigid pavement design and rehabilitation

Responsibilities

• Design pavement structures considering traffic, climate, soils and materials
• Provide construction oversight to meet specs on compaction and quality
• Inspect pavement conditions and plan maintenance/rehabilitation
• Prepare design reports, cost estimates, specs, and schedules
• Coordinate with contractors and project teams to resolve issues
• Lead and mentor engineers and staff; review reports and calculations
• Support business development with proposals and presentations
• Travel to support other Shannon & Wilson offices
