Job summary

Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. in Kansas is seeking an operation process expert to guide build plans, estimate labor hours, and develop tooling concepts for new bid proposals.

You will apply production engineering principles across manufacturing and quality disciplines in a cross-functional environment. The role requires strong composites knowledge, experience with continuous improvement, and the ability to collaborate with engineering, lean, tooling and operations teams to deliver cost-effective

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, continuous improvement, and manufacturing support.
  • High level understanding of composites and manufacturing.
  • Experience with Continuous improvement.
  • Strong listening skills and a willingness to learn.
  • High level understanding of composite fabrication and manufacturing.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, navigate through 3-D engineering models)

Responsibilities

  • As the operation process expert, this role provides guidance to the build plan including methods and techniques, sequence of steps, tool plans, layouts, etc.
  • Responsible for keeping up with industry best practices and implementing them within operations.
  • Develop labor hour estimates as well as tooling and build concepts for new bid proposals
  • Provides expertise in production engineering disciplines
  • Applies principles and practices typically associated with quality engineering, industrial engineering, and manufacturing engineering functions and coordinates with other support disciplines or core functions as required. Teams to coordinate with include: Engineering, management, lean, tooling and operations
  • Develops quality and cost-effective methods, standards, and systems for production by applying production engineering principles
  • Leads and participates in long-range technical research on proposed projects
  • Provides guidance to less experienced manufacturing support staff

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units(“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.


Position Responsibilities:

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):


  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, continuous improvement, and manufacturing support

  • High level of understanding of composites and manufacturing

  • Experience with Continuous improvement

  • Strong listening skills and a willingness to learn

  • High level understanding of composite fabrication and manufacturing

  • Ability to work cross-functionally

  • Basic computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, navigate through 3-D engineering models)


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):


  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • SAP experience

  • Manufacturing/shop floor experience

  • Lean and Six Sigma experience

  • Understands RCCA process, can prepare a business case, process improvements

Summary Pay Range: $71,750 - $110,000
