Job description

Mid Level Landscape Architect (Brooklyn)

At Sasaki, we purposefully take on challenging work as opportunities to evolve and stretch. We seek teammates who are excited to engage fully from the start. Ideas matter tremendously here, and as a Sasaki designer, you will be encouraged to have a point of view, share your thinking often, push design further, and develop a comfortable rapport with clients. For a mid-sized firm, we prioritize a small-firm feel, focusing less on hierarchy and more on collaborative effort to produce the best designs.

Our Landscape Architecture, Ecology, and Civil Engineering disciplines are seeking an exceptional collaborator to join our dynamic New York studio—someone who embodies our commitment to design excellence and can bring a unique perspective to our collaborative process.

The most successful candidates will deliver design excellence, attention to detail, organization, time management skills, and potential to grow into leadership roles over time. Not every designer needs to possess all these attributes at once, but this combination of talent is what we seek. If you believe you can add something special to our team and practice, we would love to hear from you.

What You Bring
  • Design skills—vision, creativity, and technical expertise, with a strong knowledge of the public realm, integrating bold, creative design with sustainability, green infrastructure, resilience, ecology, and an interest in detailed design, including materials, construction techniques, and planting design.
  • Collaborative spirit—enthusiasm for interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • Passion—ambition for personal growth, team success, and the work itself.
  • Proactive resourcefulness—energetic, positive problem-solver who takes initiative, is self-motivated, and manages multiple projects effectively.
  • Growth orientation—curiosity and desire to make a positive impact.
  • Humanistic sensibility—designing for people and enjoying teamwork.
  • Drive—interest in thought leadership, winning new work, developing proposals, forming teams, and attending interviews.
  • Leadership—ability to guide teams, mentor staff, listen to others’ ideas, and represent Sasaki to clients and the design community.
What You’ll Do
  • Manage project teams and client relationships across various project phases, from master planning and conceptual design to construction documentation.
  • Develop and coordinate project design elements, including sketches, graphics, 3D models, and renderings, through implementation.
  • Oversee construction documentation, bidding, and construction administration.
  • Contribute to marketing and business development, including drafting proposals, building subconsultant teams, and developing work strategies and contracts.
Experience and Education
  • Professional Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.
  • Licensed in New York or able to obtain licensure within one year.
  • 7+ years of experience.
  • Proven experience across all design phases from concept to construction.
  • Experience working with NYC public agencies, especially NYC Parks, EDC, and DDC.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Marketing and business development skills.
Additional Details
  • Seniority level: Mid-Senior level
