Salary Expectations : $65,000 - $85,000 (based on qualifications)

Your Role :

Tetra Tech Inc. is seeking a motivated Mid-Level Hazard Mitigation Planner. This professional will be part of Tetra Tech's growing national mitigation and resilience practice. Key responsibilities include managing staff, developing high-quality deliverables through project management, achieving client satisfaction, and growing the practice through new and repeat clients. The role requires strong technical and communication skills, knowledge of climate change impacts, and experience in hazard mitigation and resilience planning.

• Work with communities and counties, facilitate DMA-2000 hazard mitigation plan updates
• Develop and coordinate mitigation and adaptation plans
• Support local government and public outreach; facilitate meetings
• Interpret risk assessment results and communicate findings in written plans
• Review local plans, ordinances, policies, and update hazard mitigation plans accordingly
• Manage large data sets
• Identify mitigation projects to reduce hazard risks
• Conduct capacity building activities, develop decision support tools, and engage communities
• Collaborate with clients and supervise/mentor junior planners
• Liaise with technical professionals on project development
• Conduct outreach, stakeholder engagement, and facilitate meetings
• Assist in writing, reviewing, and preparing planning documents and reports
• Analyze socio-economic, land use, demographic, environmental, and climate data
• Support business development and identify new markets and opportunities
• Knowledge of federal and state funding sources for resilience projects
• Manage project scope, budget, schedule, and teams to ensure satisfaction
• Follow internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
• Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain industry knowledge
• Adhere to safety protocols and report incidents
• Perform additional duties as required

Qualifications :

• Master's Degree preferred in Urban Planning, Sustainability, Climate Change, Resilience, Public Policy, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in mitigation and resilience planning, land use, risk assessment, and related areas
• Certification by AICP or working toward certification is a plus
• Writing sample required with application
• Experience with SB 379 and SB 747 plans
• Experience with city comprehensive/general plans and Community Wildfire Protection Planning
• Willingness to travel up to 30%
• Valid driver’s license required
