Swanky is seeking a mid-level Full Stack Shopify Developer to lead complex technical solutions and architecture. You’ll guide projects from scoping through delivery, mentor developers, and set technical standards while shaping the roadmap with the Director of Technology.

Responsibilities include designing Shopify apps/themes, integrating APIs, and maintaining governance across multiple client engagements, with hybrid remote options and opportunities to work with top ecommerce brands.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in commercial environments as a full stack developer.
• 2+ years delivering Shopify/Shopify Plus websites.
• Strong knowledge of Shopify Store 2.0, Liquid, and Shopify APIs.
• HTML, CSS, JavaScript (ES6+), and TypeScript proficiency.
• Experience with React (Remix / Next.js).
• Backend experience with Node.js or Ruby.
• Strong RESTful/GraphQL APIs and cloud/serverless architectures.
• Git and multi-developer workflows.
• Relational databases and migrations.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Full Stack Shopify Developer to lead on complex technical solutions, architecture, and client-facing discovery. You’ll be a trusted technical authority guiding projects from scoping through delivery, ensuring technical governance, and mentoring developers within the team. Your day-to-day could involve architecting custom Shopify apps and Checkout Extensions, designing scalable theme builds, integrating APIs, or advising on technical risk during discovery sessions. You’ll also help shape our development standards, conduct code reviews, and support the Director of Technology in defining our technical roadmap.

Required skills & experience

• Extensive experience as a full stack developer (3+ years in commercial environments).
• Proven track record delivering responsive Shopify/Shopify Plus websites (2+ years minimum).
• Strong knowledge of Shopify Store 2.0, Liquid, and Shopify APIs.
• Skilled in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (ES6+), and TypeScript.
• Experience with React (Remix / Next.js).
• Experience with backend languages/frameworks (preferably Node.js or Ruby).
• Strong understanding of RESTful/GraphQL APIs and cloud-based/serverless architectures.
• Proficient in Git and version control workflows within multi-developer teams.
• Solid experience with databases, migrations, and relational data structures.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence in client-facing roles.

Nice to have

• Experience with Supabase or Firebase.
• Experience with Flutter.
• Experience with Rust.
• Experience with headless ecommerce and composable architectures.
• Prior lead developer experience.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Knowledge of DNS and deployment workflows.
