Job summary

Axiom Space in Houston, TX is seeking a mid-level Embedded Software Engineer to join the Space Suits Avionics team. You will design, develop, and maintain firmware for ground support equipment and embedded platforms such as MSP430 and STM32F.

You will work closely with hardware teams to bring up boards, develop drivers, and ensure reliable, real-time performance. Strong C/C++ and Python skills, plus experience in Linux environments and security best practices, are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in computer/Electrical/Aerospace or CS.
• 3+ years in embedded systems, firmware and driver development.
• Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, USB, RS232/RS485, Ethernet.
• Experience with ADC, DAC, Interrupts, DMA, Timers and GPIO.
• Hardware bring-up and debugging tools (JTAG, Oscilloscopes, Logic analyzers).
• RTOS familiarity, real-time constraints, and safe embedded design.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and maintain firmware within the Avionics group.
• Design and develop interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to bring up boards and develop drivers.
• Participate in software architecture design and code reviews.
• Develop hardware-in-the-loop systems and integration with simulators.
• Create ICDs, design artifacts, test reports, and procedures.
• Contribute to system verification, troubleshooting performance and memory issues.
• Communicate progress to stakeholders and support agile project management.
