Baumann Consulting is looking for a Mid-Level Electrical Commissioning and Energy Engineer for our office in Washington, DC. This position will be based in Washington, DC.

Baumann Consulting, Inc. (Baumann), with offices in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Frankfurt (Germany) provides consulting services for sustainable and innovative building solutions for the US and international markets. We provide sound engineering practices and creative solutions based on German Quality and American Innovation. Baumann offers broad expertise for consulting services in the field of commercial, institutional, educational, and industrial buildings. Our services cover the entire life cycle of buildings, starting with energy audits and feasibility studies, the development and evaluation of design concepts, through commissioning, M&V, and monitoring of the performance of buildings and systems.

Position Purpose

We are seeking employees who are driven to make high performance buildings a reality. Our Mid-Level Commissioning and Energy Engineers work independently on cutting-edge projects for world-class clients. They are competent in all aspects of building systems, energy management, and the commissioning process. They evaluate, select, and adapt/modify standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to meet job-specific needs. They devise new solutions to problems encountered and independently perform assignments to achieve expected results. They are supported by an experienced team that provides technical guidance for unusual or complex problems and assistance in developing effective project plans. They work collaboratively with peers and junior team members to deliver results that exceed customer expectations.

The position involves domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute commissioning projects from beginning to close-out
  • Lead and execute condition assessments and energy audits for existing facilities
  • Support the development of innovative energy concepts for new and existing buildings
  • Provide project management and coordination on small- and medium-sized projects to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget, and schedule
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and other project team members
  • Produce summary reports and presentations and deliver them to clients, multidisciplinary project teams, and other relevant parties
  • Support business development activities including networking at industry events, developing and maintaining client relationships, and preparation of proposals
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) is highly preferred
  • 3 to 8 years of energy-related or electrical commissioning experience, plus one or more of these professional certifications: CEM, CCP, CPMP, BEAP, is highly preferred
  • Solid knowledge of electrical generation and distribution systems is required
  • Willingness to pursue continuing education
  • Applicant must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer
