Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Mid-Level Data Scientist for the Advisory Solutions Group within the Asset Management Digital Strategies Practice supporting Federal clients. You will develop and deployed ML models, design AI solutions, and build semantic search systems to improve data retrieval and decision-making for critical programs.

Collaborate with client teams and internal colleagues to deliver AI-driven insights, stay current with AI research, and travel up to 20% (CONUS/OCONUS). U.S.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in AI, data science, or related field (including academic projects or internships).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (CS, Data Science, AI, Math, etc.).
• Proficiency with Python, R, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Experience deploying AI models and MLOps practices.

• Develop and implement machine learning models and AI algorithms to address complex business and technical problems
• Design and optimize database architectures to support AI applications
• Build and maintain semantic search solutions to improve data retrieval and user experience
• Train and fine-tune machine learning models to support performance and accuracy targets
• Create and maintain interactive decision-support systems aligned to client needs
• Partner with internal teams and clients to deliver strategic AI-driven insights and solutions
• Monitor AI and data science advancements and apply updates to continuously improve delivery practices

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience in AI, data science, or a related field, including academic projects or internships focused on AI and data analytics
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Data Science, Data Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field
• Proficiency with Python, R, JavaScript, or TypeScript
• Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases
• Experience integrating external AI models including OpenAI, Mixtral, LLaMA, and platforms such as Azure Machine Learning, Amazon SageMaker, or Vertex AI
• Background in deployment, MLOps, testing, and model monitoring
• Knowledge of semantic search implementation for improved data retrieval and user experience
• Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technical skills in a fast-paced environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and a team-oriented mindset
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time (CONUS and OCONUS) and obtain a U.S. Government Common Access Card
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
• U.S. Citizenship required for government-facing work; visa sponsorship is not available
