Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Mid-Level Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join the Missile Defense Agency on the IRES contract. The role focuses on migrating functions and networks to private, public, and hybrid cloud infrastructures, and on designing and implementing client-specific cloud solutions.

The candidate will ensure scalable, secure cloud networks, work with stakeholders to plan growth, automate infrastructure, and provide architectural guidance across engineering and operations teams.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of directly related cloud engineering experience.
• Experience with IAAS, SAAS, PAAS delivery models.
• Experience with enterprise server OS (RHEL 7/8, Windows Server 2019+).
• Experience with cybersecurity best practices.
• Active DoW Secret clearance and DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification.

Description of Duties: The Mid-Level Cloud Infrastructure Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.

The candidate will:

• Specialize in migrating functions and networks to private, public, and hybrid cloud infrastructures.
• In doing so, will give organizations and business partners the freedom and flexibility to maximize their productivity while achieving additional cost savings to the MDA.
• Design, plan and implement client‑specific cloud solutions.
• Identify appropriate cloud providers.
• Ensure the cloud network is properly sized and responsive to user demands.
• Scale cloud services to serve growing demands.
• Liaise with business owners and/or stakeholders to determine growth plans.
• Monitor usage of cloud network.
• Implement effective security strategies on cloud networks.
• Implement fault tolerance, disaster recovery and failover capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
• Build infrastructure automation to ensure rapid delivery of system and application updates.
• Carry out testing and fine‑tuning to ensure optimal efficiency.
• Provide architectural vision, strategy & roadmap and work with Engineers and Platform Operations staff to operationalize technology solutions.

The successful candidate will:

• Have strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Basic Requirements:

• Must have 1, or more, years of directly related experience.
• Must understand cloud delivery models (IAAS, SAAS, PAAS).
• Must have experience with enterprise server operating systems/environments (i.e. RHEL 7 and/or 8; Windows Server 2019 and/or higher).
• Must have experience with implementing Cybersecurity best practices.
• Must have DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II Certification.
• Must have an active DoW Secret Security Clearance.

Desired Requirements:

• AZURE, AWS, and/or Cloud Certified Solution Architect Certification.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's Degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Math.

Compensation Details: $110,000 – $140,000. The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good‑faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
