Job summary

ELEVI is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer in Laurel, MD for hybrid work. Must have 4+ years of full-stack experience including REST APIs, React/Angular, and cloud-based environments. Strong Python backend experience and Agile delivery are required. Knowledge of PyTest/JUnit and DevOps with AWS and Docker is expected.

The role covers the full software lifecycle, from requirements to testing and deployment, with mentoring responsibilities and collaboration with system administrators.

Qualifications

• 4+ years backend services in Python.

• Reviews, analyzes, and modifies software systems, documents changes, and mentors junior team members.
• Guides users in requirement formulation and feasibility studies and supports system administrators during installation.

Job description

The Software Engineer shall meet the following minimum requirements: Hybrid work in Laurel Eight (8) years demonstrated experience in application design and development, to include experience with back-end database architectures, relational or cloud-based, and full lifecycle software development.

A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information systems or related discipline may be substituted for four (4) years’ experience, or a Master of Science degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information systems or related discipline may be substituted for six (6) years’ experience.

Candidates must have the experience listed below:

• 4+ years of experience in full-stack application design and development, including implementation of relational or NoSQL databases, web-based APIs such as REST, and frontend frameworks such as React or Angular, in cloud-based environments (with bachelors degree)
• 4+ years of experience developing backend web services using object-oriented languages such as Python
• Experience delivering software to clients using Agile methodologies, including Scrum or SAFe
• Experience using automated software testing frameworks, including PyTest or JUnit Docker and or Kubernetes required
• ALSO can write code and work on DevOps (AWS and docker)

Description The Software Engineer – Mid Level shall participate in all phases of the software lifecycle from requirements definition through design, development, integration and test in various object-oriented and scripted languages (e.g., Java Script, C++, Perl, Python, Ruby).

The Software Engineer – Mid Level shall apply industry best practices to all development efforts and review, analyze, and modify software systems including coding, testing, debugging, installing and documenting.

The Software Engineer – Mid Level shall support system administrators with the installation of software applications, develop training materials and mentor junior team members.

The Software Engineer – Mid Level shall guide users in formulating requirements, advise on alternative approaches and conduct feasibility studies as required, and estimate resource requirements for software tasks for inclusion into project budget and schedule.
