Job summary

PGAL is seeking a talented Mid-Level Designer with construction administration experience to contribute to a positive mentoring studio environment in Alexandria, VA. You will lead design documentation through construction administration, engage with clients and consultants, and use AutoCAD and Revit to support diverse project types.

Responsibilities include coordinating submittals and RFIs, ensuring design intent, and maintaining project documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Architecture or related field from an accredited university.
• 3-5 years combined experience with architecture and/or construction firm.
• Must have demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Understand building technology fundamentals.
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks with competing priorities.
• Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.
• Strong attention to detail with organizational and follow-through skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with Bluebeam, Newforma, and Google Documents.
• Experience with maintaining/updating web-based project documentation (Office365).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Perform design documentation through construction administration and client contact.
• Demonstrate technical detailing and problem-solving on various project types.
• Support construction administration activities for the design team.
• Process, distribute, log, and follow-up on submittals and RFIs.
• Communicate with project team and consultants on project issues.
• Assess design intent and client expectations for the design team and owner.
• Monitor projects for conformance with construction documents.
• Occasional site visits to document progress and conformance.
• Prepare field observation reports based on site visits and contractor discussions.
• Perform design documentation using AutoCAD and Revit.
