Job summary

UAB Medicine is hiring for a part-time ICU nurse at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham. The MICU/1South unit supports 18 beds of critical care with strong leadership and teaching, welcoming new graduates for a collaborative team environment.

Provide direct nursing care per policies, coordinate multidisciplinary care, and assist with discharge planning. Licensure in Alabama, BLS/ALS timelines, and a nursing diploma are required to join this team.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 month of hire date or transfer date; AHA or Red Cross accepted.
• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 months of hire date or transfer date; AHA or Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or transfer date.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans; monitor, record and communicate patient condition.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
