Job description

The Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine is seeking a full time reconstructive and microvascular surgeon to join its academic faculty. All ranks will be considered. The faculty member will have the opportunity to teach residents, engage in research, and participate in clinical program development. Specific areas of focus will be breast reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, oncologic and traumatic reconstruction, general Plastic Surgery and an aesthetic practice. All candidates must have completed a fellowship in microsurgery and be either ABPS board certified or in the process of certification. We offer an academic career in an environment that promotes professional excellence. The ideal candidate will be board certified and possess superior technical skills. Autologous breast reconstruction and lower extremity reconstruction will be a large portion of the candidate’s practice in addition to general Plastic Surgery. Research is also an important component of our Division, with peer reviewed funding and over 20 major publications last year alone. The ideal candidate would be expected to bring, and further develop, national recognition to our program at the clinical, research, and educational levels.

Lexington is in the heart of the Bluegrass and rightfully is called the Horse Capital of the World. It is surrounded by beautiful landscape and lovely horse farms. The University plays a major role in commerce and cultural enhancement. It is a little over an hour drive from Louisville and Cincinnati and is a vibrant city with many cultural and recreational opportunities all year round. It has a high-quality school system and is a wonderful place to raise a family. We offer a competitive salary and a full array of benefits. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience and achievement.

The Division of Plastic Surgery faculty is comprised of 8 board certified surgeons, each of whom has interests and expertise that reflects the increasingly specialized field of surgery. The division has active clinical interests in the areas of microvascular and craniofacial surgery. The implementation of a craniofacial team has pulled together the various disciplines within the UK Chandler Medical Center that can provide comprehensive care for the adult and pediatric patient with craniofacial deformity and dysfunction. The division also plays an active role in the comprehensive clinics of breast and head and neck oncology. The governance of the Division of Plastic Surgery is under Departmental leadership (Barry Inabnet MD), which allows synergism between divisions and a robust environment for our residency program, a 6-year integrated residency program with two new residents added annually.

Upon offer of employment, the successful applicant for this position must pass a pre-employment drug screen and undergo a national background check as required by University of Kentucky Human Resources.
