Job summary

University of Cincinnati is seeking a full-time academic microsurgeon to join the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery within the College of Medicine. The candidate will participate in education, clinical care, and research with an anticipated Fall 2027 start date.

The division values collaboration and a strong academic mission under the leadership of Sonu A. Jain, with opportunities across breast reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, and limb salvage.

Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MD/DO) and board eligibility or board certification in Plastic Surgery.
• Unrestricted licensure in Ohio.
• Completion of a 1-year Microvascular fellowship/training.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the Division's academic mission, including resident and medical student education.
• Lead teaching conferences and didactics.
• Manage ambulatory clinics and operative care.
• Engage in opportunities for clinical and translational research.

Job Overview

As one of the nation's oldest medical schools, the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine has a long-standing reputation for excellence in medical education, research, and patient care. The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery has a distinguished history dating back to 1974, when it was founded by Henry W. Neale, MD. The Division celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024 and continues to expand under the leadership of Sonu A. Jain, MD, FACS, Division Chief. University of Cincinnati Medical Center offers Quaternary Care and is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in our region.

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine invites applications for a full-time academic microsurgeon/plastic surgeon with an anticipated start date of Fall 2027. The Division is recruiting a talented microsurgeon to join a growing faculty and a collaborative working environment. Clinical areas to focus on may include:

• Breast reconstruction
• Lymphedema surgery
• Extremity reconstruction and limb salvage
• Trunk reconstruction

Other areas of Plastic Surgery can be included, depending on faculty interest. Final faculty rank and title will be commensurate with experience.
