Job Title: Microsoft 365 Engineer

Duration: 6+ months contract

Location: Onsite 4-5 days a week in Dallas, TX

Summary

A highly regarded financial organization is seeking a skilled Microsoft 365 Engineering Consultant for a contract engagement lasting 6 to 12 months. This role involves evaluating, enhancing, and supporting the organization's Microsoft 365 environment to ensure robust security, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency within a regulated industry.

The ideal candidate will bring deep technical proficiency in Microsoft 365 services along with a solid understanding of financial or compliance-heavy environments.

Role Overview

Assessment & Planning

  • Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Review current configurations and policies to ensure alignment with industry regulations and best practices (e.g., SOX, GLBA, SEC, FINRA).
  • Identify areas for improvement, security risks, and compliance gaps.
  • Deliver clear, actionable recommendations and technical documentation.

Engineering & Configuration

  • Configure Microsoft 365 services in line with compliance and operational objectives.
  • Implement security features including DLP, sensitivity labels, compliance manager policies, and identity controls such as MFA and Conditional Access.
  • Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell and other Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Support hybrid identity configurations and integration with internal systems or third-party applications.

Operational Support & Enablement

  • Provide advanced-level support (Tier 2/3) for Microsoft 365 incidents and requests.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across the Microsoft 365 platform.
  • Create technical documentation and contribute to user training and IT team enablement.
  • Assist with audit preparation and evidence collection to support compliance reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft 365 engineering and support experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting Microsoft 365 within financial services or similarly regulated environments.
  • Expertise across core M365 applications: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
  • Strong grasp of Microsoft 365 security and compliance tools.
  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Experience with hybrid identity setups, Azure AD Connect, and secure cloud migration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a client-service mindset.
