Qualifications

• Graduation from NYS registered two-year college/university with an Associate Degree in computer science or a closely related field.
• High school diploma or equivalency with two years of full-time paid experience in personal computer system analysis or adapting software for users.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by (a) and (b).

Responsibilities

• Collects information from departments requesting computer support to determine current operation and basic requirements.
• Defines and researches the problem in terms of conditions, logical relationships, system constraints and objectives.
• Designs the system for department use by specifying hardware, software, files, screens, interactive programs, batch programs, macros, etc.
• Demonstrates and trains users in operation and maintenance of computer hardware, software and networks.
• Researches, tests, evaluates and recommends data communication hardware and software.
• Consults with vendors, distributors, and users regarding purchase of hardware, software and networks.
• Integrates new system into current hardware/software and manual/paper systems in use.
