Job summary

UC San Diego Health in La Jolla, CA, is hiring for a Staff Research Associate I in Pediatrics. The role supports a high‑impact microbiome research program focusing on DNA/RNA sequencing and novel technologies. 100% effort, 8‑hour days, Monday–Friday, with occasional weekends.

The candidate will work under the Laboratory Manager to handle sequencing workflows, document new technology feasibility, and help maintain sequencing equipment in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

• Theoretical knowledge of basic human genetics and molecular biology.
• Experience with biology techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, sequence analysis, RT-PCR, DNA/RNA isolation within the past 2 years.
• Demonstrated ability to follow university Environmental Health and Safety requirements. Experienced in working and maintaining a sterile environment.
• Micropipetting and dilutions experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with extracting, purifying, and analyzing DNA and RNA for Next-Gen Sequencing.
• Assist in maintaining new equipment and technologies including Next Gen sequencing equipment.
• Document feasibility and testing of new technologies for the research program.
