Job summary

Biolog, a global leader in microbial identification and profiling, seeks a Lab Technician to join our California lab. You will support end-to-end sample processing, including preparation, microbial and DNA-based analysis, and data entry, under the supervision of the DNA Scientist.

You’ll help maintain lab operations, manage inventory, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced, regulated environment, collaborating with internal teams and customers to deliver timely results.

Qualifications

• The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a life science field and 1–3 years of lab experience.
• Hands-on microbiology and molecular biology techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing.
• Familiarity with regulated lab environments (cGMP, GLP, ISO 17025).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform end-to-end sample processing, including microbial culture, DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, and data entry.
• Manage sample workflows to meet turnaround times and customer expectations.
• Prepare reagents, media, and lab supplies; maintain clean and organized lab spaces.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, including routine cleaning and basic troubleshooting.
• Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Support SOP updates, audits, and continuous process improvements.
• Communicate with customers on sample status and deliver timely reports.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff to support efficient daily operations.
