Job summary

The University of North Texas System in Denton is seeking a Scientific Lab Technician to support microbiology teaching labs under the Instructional Lab Supervisor. You will prepare media, maintain inventories, and help supervise prep personnel and student workers.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field and have experience with lab safety, instrumentation, and accurate record-keeping. This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position with TRS retirement eligibility and a standard M-F

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field and one year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• General understanding of science or engineering related to the position.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety, equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ability to teach and supervise others via demonstrations and verbal communication.
• Ability to maintain accurate assays, samples and detailed records.

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory and update prep notes/manuals.
• Prepare, maintain and remediate microbiology labs and materials daily.
• Organize and maintain prep area and materials.
• Ensure safe environments by checking for hazards and remediation.
• Test, troubleshoot instrumentation and equipment.
• Schedule Graduate Services Assistant(s) and student workers; assign tasks.
