Job summary

Waters Advanced Diagnostic is seeking a Scientist II - Microbiology to join our R&D Solutions Assurance team at our Sparks, Maryland site. You will contribute to development and validation of microbiology and molecular diagnostics, working with platforms like BACTECTM, KiestraTM, CORTM and PhoenixTM, integrated through SynapsysTM informatics.

You will design experiments, author documentation, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure our products meet real-world needs and regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Medical Technology, or a related field (required).
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory (bacteriology benchwork).
• Familiarity with molecular technologies and diagnostic platforms is a strong plus.
• Strong laboratory skills, including experimental design and data analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply clinical microbiology expertise to ensure our products meet real-world customer needs.
• Design and execute laboratory experiments with minimal oversight to support product development and validation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, and Service to improve diagnostic solutions.
• Author and review technical documentation, including validation protocols.
• Support troubleshooting efforts and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Stay current with advancements in clinical microbiology and related technologies.
