Hormel Foods Corporation is hiring a Lab Technician for the Microbiology Lab - R&D in Austin, MN. The role performs assays with non-pathogen organisms, conducts QC procedures, and supports method validation and continuous improvement projects.

The position requires post-secondary education in a lab-based science, strong math and computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, LIMS), and the ability to work independently or in a team, standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbs; base pay range is

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in a lab-based, scientific discipline.
Basic lab skills including aseptic technique, quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Strong math skills.
Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word, and LIMS or equivalents.
Ability to work independently or in a team.
Good communication skills.
Ability to stand for long periods, handle odors, lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Performs assays in the general micro lab that include mostly non-pathogen organisms.
Conducts Quality Control procedures for laboratory as assigned.
Initiates and participates in Corrective Action Requests, Method Validation Projects, and Continuous Improvement Projects.
Maintains Quality Control and ISO records as assigned.
May assist with administrative duties such as safety audits, obtaining COAs, and ordering supplies and chemicals.
Performs other duties as assigned.
