Hormel Foods Corporation in Austin, Minnesota, is seeking a Lab Technician for the Microbiology Lab in R&D. The role performs assays, QC procedures, and supports corrective actions and continuous improvement projects.

Requires post-secondary lab education, basic lab skills, good math and computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, LIMS). The base pay ranges from $20.25 to $28.50 per hour, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

Required: post-secondary education in a lab-based, scientific discipline.
Required: basic lab skills including aseptic technique and quantitative/qualitative analysis.
Required: strong math skills and good computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, LIMS).
Required: ability to work independently or in a group and good communication skills.
Must be able to stand for long periods, handle strong odors, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Performs assays in the general micro lab (mostly non-pathogen organisms).
Conducts Quality Control procedures as assigned.
Participates in Corrective Action Requests, Method Validation Projects, and Continuous Improvement Projects.
Maintains Quality Control and ISO records as assigned.
May assist with safety audits, COAs, and ordering supplies and chemicals.
Performs other duties as assigned.
