Job summary

Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital is seeking a Medical Technologist to perform laboratory procedures and tests independently across patient ages with accuracy and timeliness. The role requires competency in testing, interpretation, and analysis under professional standards.

Education includes a GED with additional college/technical coursework and certification testing; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. Some experience in a clinical lab is desirable but not strictly required.

Qualifications

• GED plus college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy testing and certification as a medical technologist
• Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in a life/biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology) preferred
• No experience required; 1 year of supervised clinical experience as a medical technologist in a clinical laboratory preferred

Responsibilities

• Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency
• Independently performs laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge, executing, interpreting and/or analyzing, in an accurate and timely manner
