First Shift

Sunday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm & Monday - Thursday 7:30 am - 4:00 PM

Starting rate $18.00 per hour.

The Microbiology Lab Assistant will perform limited microbiology functions. In accordance with standard operating procedures, follows all applicable regulatory standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Daily BacT/Alert quality control maintenance.
2. Removal of finalized cultures from the BacT/Alert.
3. Verifies Vitek temperature is acceptable.
4. Performs the following basic duties in the microbiology lab:
5. Swab inoculation of Thio and TSB
6. Log in specimens (electronically and manually)
7. Pull discard tubes
8. Daily temperatures/CO2 readings
9. Log in new media, reagents and supplies
10. Performs weekly eye wash/shower maintenance
11. Performs weekly hood QC
12. Incubator and refrigerator quarterly PM
13. Troubleshoots the temperature monitoring system
14. Weekly cleaning of irradiation /rinsate room
15. File paperwork
16. Change CO2 tanks
17. 2nd check CTMS and manual log ins
18. Clean lab spaces
19. Organize and restock lab supplies
20. MicroCheck tube discard
21. Performs follow ups with branches as necessary.
22. Irradiation Load specimens:
23. Log in specimens
24. Label tubes
25. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent.
