The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant I to assist medical laboratory scientists by performing routine lab support duties and approved testing in various laboratories, following CLIA guidelines.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma and at least two years of CLA experience; shift is 3:00pm–11:30pm with every third weekend, and opportunities for professional growth are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years of CLA or equivalent clinical/hospital experience.

Responsabilités

• Receives and accession patient samples into the Laboratory Information System.
• Processes specimens and prepares them for testing following procedures.
• Identifies and resolves specimen integrity issues and documents findings.
• Performs waived to moderate complexity testing as approved.
• Answers phones and responds to customer inquiries.
• Communicates test results to internal and external customers.
• Troubleshoots instrument problems with supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
