BioTechnique in York, United States is hiring a motivated Microbiology Technician Level I to support QA/QC operations in a sterile manufacturing setting. You will perform sampling, microbial analysis, DET, and document results in ACE and LIMS following GMP and compendial standards.

This is a temporary six-month position with a Friday–Sunday, 12-hour shift schedule, ideal for recent graduates or those starting their careers in microbiology.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years experience in quality control or manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of cGMP, ISO standards, and FDA/EU requirements.
  • Proficiency in document control and electronic quality management systems (eQMS).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; detail-oriented and analytical.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sampling and microbial analysis per SOPs and compendial standards.
  • Execute disinfectant efficacy testing (DET) and environmental monitoring.
  • Prepare media, sampling kits, and test solutions; support sterilization practices.
  • Operate biosafety cabinets and laboratory instrumentation with aseptic technique.
  • Document results in ACE/LIMS; maintain data integrity and traceability.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with QA, Eng, Manufacturing, and Facilities.

Your Role

We are hiring a motivated Microbiology Technician Level I to join our team! The Microbiology Technician supports BioTechnique’s Quality Control operations by executing microbiological and environmental monitoring activities in a sterile manufacturing setting. Technicians perform sampling, microbial analysis, execute disinfectant efficacy testing (DET), and documentation in compliance with GMP and industry standards.

This is a temporary six-month position with the schedule of Friday – Sunday (12 hour shifts), with the potential for conversion to a full-time employee (FTE). This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates, interns, or individuals beginning their careers in microbiology.

  • Follow aseptic gowning procedures and wear required PPE in classified cleanroom environments.
  • Independently conducts routine testing and monitoring activities; supports compendial compliance.
  • Execute microbial testing and environmental monitoring of product samples, utilities, surfaces, air, and personnel according to SOPs and compendial standards.
  • Execute disinfectant efficacy testing (DET) and related microbiological assays.
  • Prepare and maintain media, sampling kits, and test solutions per SOPs and compendial requirements; support sterilization practices as applicable.
  • Operate biological safety cabinets and laboratory instrumentation while following aseptic techniques.
  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of laboratory spaces and support equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Document results accurately in validated systems (ACE, LIMS) and maintain data integrity.
  • Participate in periodic lab and equipment cleaning and monthly tasks.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with Quality Assurance, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Facilities.
  • Contribute to inventory management and reagent tracking.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
  • 0-2 years of experience in a quality control or manufacturing role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in a regulated industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology).
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems and regulations, including cGMP, ISO standards, and FDA/EU requirements.
  • Proficiency in document control, change control, and electronic quality management systems (eQMS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
