Job summary

Certified Group is seeking a Microbiologist in Melville, NY to prepare samples for microbiological testing of nutraceutical products and supplements ingredients and environmentals. The role applies approved microbiological techniques used in analytical testing.

Responsibilities include microbial and environmental testing, aseptic technique, and maintaining logs and equipment. Competitive pay is provided with the possibility of weekend rotation and a focus on safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• BS degree in microbiology or related field with 2-3 years of lab experience.
• At least 1 year of Quality Assurance or Microbiological testing experience in cosmetics, nutraceuticals, or pharmaceutical industries.
• Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to carry up to 50 pounds.
• Able to stand and sit for long periods.
• Must be able to rotate one weekend day.

Responsibilities

• Assist in microbial challenge testing of new products to determine adequacy of preservation.
• Bioburden panel testing, water testing, environmental testing (eg air plates, swabs, conductivity).
• Apply aseptic techniques in daily workload.
• Inventory and report expendable supplies/materials needed for testing requirements.
• Provide routine preventive maintenance by daily cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal.
• Perform quality control monitoring by taking incubator temperatures, inoculating control organisms, running media controls, etc.
• Maintain laboratory condition, to include equipment, supplies.
• Perform all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner.
• Prepare media for microbial quality and preservative testing.
• Document media preparation and media control information in appropriate logbooks.
• Maintain notebooks and computer logs required for the department.
• Organize destruction of product discards and assist with special projects.
• Share information in an open, timely manner with Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
