Job summary

Element Materials Technology in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is seeking a Microbiologist to support food testing operations. You will conduct microbiological analyses on food products, raw materials, and environmental samples, following SOPs and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 0-2 years’ experience in a testing related field.
• Basic understanding of testing concepts.
• Possess strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential microbiological and chemical laboratory services for food and beverage manufacturers, private sectors, commodity exporters, and others in the food industry in line with Element's standards
• Perform tests as directed by internal standard operating procedures, published methods, and laboratory accreditations
• Operate under the supervision of more senior microbiologists and/or department managers
• Maintain accurate records of all performed procedures in assisting in implementation of ISO / IEC 17025:2005 in the laboratory
• Complete logs and record test data
• Manage the functionality and calibration of laboratory equipment
• Prepare media and reagents and maintain culture stocks
• Work with indicator organisms and pathogens daily
• Clean glassware and dispose of samples
• Adhere to, support and follow all Element safety guidelines
