Summary

Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties related to patient care and management in accordance with Brown University Health's mission, vision, and values. Considers all developmental stages and cultural patterns, reflecting the age-specific needs of patients.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain and record detailed medical histories; perform physical examinations; record progress notes; prepare discharge summaries; draw blood; administer fluids, blood products, and medications; initiate life-saving measures in emergencies.
  • Perform comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical exams; interpret laboratory and diagnostic data; formulate differential diagnoses and treatment plans within scope of practice; consult with healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Order and perform laboratory and diagnostic procedures; assist in surgery; conduct hospital rounds; evaluate and plan patient care; ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.
  • Manage patient health maintenance; promote community resource utilization; participate in research and quality assurance activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program with B.S. Degree or equivalent.
  • Certified or eligible for certification by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Certified in American Heart Association Basic Life Support/Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Experience

One to two years of clinical orthopedic practice experience, including orthopedic surgical procedures.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Healthcare setting involving direct patient contact and use of medical equipment. Adherence to safety procedures is required.

Additional Information
