Easterseals NJ is seeking a part-time Residential Counselor in Shrewsbury, NJ. The role supports group home residents with daily living activities and documents services in electronic health records. A valid driver’s license is required for transporting consumers and coordinating services.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s in mental health or related field, or 4+ years of relevant experience; strong communication and MS Office skills are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in mental health, psychology, sociology, or social work, or related field from an accredited college/university OR combination of college and work experience totaling four years OR high school diploma/GED with four years of related experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• This role requires driving as an essential function with a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Support consumers in achieving personal care goals and addressing ongoing challenges.
• Educate consumers on medications, track logs, and conduct monthly audits.
• Coordinate services based on individual needs.
• Transport consumers using the company van as needed.
• Deliver high-quality care in line with Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRP).
• Accurately document services within required timeframes using electronic health records.

What You’ll Do:

The Residential Counselor supports the group home residents with daily living activities and delivers high quality services that will help consumers achieve measurable outcomes in accordance with Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRP).

Who You Are:

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in mental health, psychology, sociology, or social work, human services or a related field from an accredited college or universityOR
  • A combination of one (1) or more years’ of college, plus related life or work experience equal tofour(4) yearsOR
  • High school diploma or GED plusfour(4) years of related work or life experiencerequired.
• Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• This role requires driving as an essential function. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be subject to post-offer verification of driving eligibility consistent with company insurance requirements.
