The Manager of Human Resources is responsible for providing leadership and coordination of plant Human Resource functions and overseeing the implementation of corporate Human Resource strategy and programs. This position serves as a human resource business partner to plant leadership and plays a key role in ensuring effective HR program delivery and operational excellence at the plant level. Reports directly to the Director, Human Resources; provides plant-level oversight in relation to HR program implementation, talent acquisition and development, training and onboarding, performance management, vendor management, compliance reporting, employee relations, and plant operational support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
People Plant Operations (40%)
  • Serve as the primary HR leader for the plant, partnering with plant leadership, people leaders, and HR business partners to execute people strategies that support operational objectives, workforce effectiveness, and organizational growth.
  • Oversee daily HR operations including onboarding, offboarding, employee record management, HR compliance, and employee data integrity.?
  • Drive the site's talent acquisition strategy by partnering with the Talent Acquisition team and hiring managers to attract, select, and onboard high-quality talent while ensuring timely hiring to meet business demands.
  • Communicate people strategy and results from HR initiatives in management meetings and provide metrics and reporting on key HR metrics (retention, turnover, time-to-fill, safety compliance).
  • Lead investigations, enforce performance standards, and streamline people best practices to ensure a consistent and compliant people strategy across all plant employees.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including recruitment agencies and provide oversight of temporary workforce management.
HR Advisor/Business Partner & Program Implementation (20%)
  • Research, develop, write, and update HR policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and plant operations.?
  • Lead the implementation of corporate HR programs (benefits, compensation, compliance, employee engagement initiatives) at the plant level and monitor effectiveness.?
  • Provide coaching and counseling to plant leadership and managers on effective management practices, HR policy application, and ensuring that employee relations issues are effectively addressed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensure company's compliance with all Federal and State legislation pertaining to personnel matters.?
  • Create mitigation strategies to minimize potential and pending legal exposure and manage risk related to people management and compliance.?
  • Serve as plant HR liaison with corporate HR business partners and act as a critical member of the HR team in supporting strategic initiatives and best practice implementation.
Team Leadership (15%)
  • Consciously create a workplace culture that is consistent with and emphasizes the overall organization's identified mission, vision, guiding principles, and values of the organization.?
  • Lead employees using a performance management and development process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning.?
  • Accomplish department objectives by managing direct reports, planning, and evaluating department activities.?
  • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.?
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization to be an effective listener and problem solver of people issues.
Employee/Community Experience and Engagement (15%)
  • Plant oversight of the Element Engagement Calendar for operations by partnering with plant leadership and safety to ensure that this are celebrated and communicated.
  • Establish and maintain critical business partnerships for building the talent pipeline for operations.
  • Implement the internal – employee facing and external – community activities for the Element Cares program.
  • Support community engagement initiatives and maintain relationships with community partners and business neighbors.
Training and Development (5%)
  • Confer with plant management to identify training needs based on projected business needs, processes; define and execute training strategies.
  • Plan, implement, and develop training and staff development programs, using a variety of methods such as classroom and video training, on-the-job training, and meetings.
  • Create and conduct comprehensive onboarding and orientation programs and arrange on-the-job training for new hires to accelerate time-to-productivity.
  • Provide reporting and metrics of training effectiveness to plant management with focus on business outcomes and retention impact.
  • Support training and coaching in performance management process and delivery, including supervisor-level training.
Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related HR field or equivalent combination of education and experience; Masters in HR preferred.
  • 5+ years Human Resource leadership and operations management experience; Industry experience in consumer goods and/or manufacturing preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill set in talent development, recruitment, and retention strategies.
  • Ability to serve as a strategic business partner and advisor to plant leadership with a solid track record of achievement in HR operations, program implementation, and best people practices.
  • Proficient in HR technology systems, HRIS platforms, and maintaining data integrity.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment, wage and salary laws and regulations.
  • Experience in examining and re-engineering HR operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new processes and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and drive initiatives to completion.
