Amazon Robotics is seeking a skilled Industrial maintenance technician to oversee the installation and maintenance of our industrial equipment. As an industrial maintenance technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our machinery and mechanical equipment. This will include installing new equipment, performing regular services and maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.

To ensure success as an industrial maintenance technician, you should have advanced mechanical knowledge of industrial machinery, excellent troubleshooting skills, and good time-management skills. Ultimately, a top-class industrial maintenance technician boosts production by ensuring all production equipment functions correctly and receives regular maintenance

Key job responsibilities
Specialized Equipment Scope
  • Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) - sit-down and stand-up forklifts, electric pallet jacks, walkie riders. Sets and enforces travel-lane, load-height, and dock-loading standards; owns operator qualification currency for the shift.
  • Scissor lifts and aerial work platforms - pre-use inspection, fall-protection expectations, restricted-area and low-clearance controls.
  • Cranes and hoists - rigging selection, load ratings, sling and hook inspection, periodic-inspection compliance, and safe lift planning for drive-unit and subassembly handling.
  • WorkSmart stations - station configuration, guided-build sequencing, and troubleshooting following the Line 4 / Line 5 WorkSmart conversion.
  • Knight lift-assist and articulating torque-arm systems - setup, balance and reach adjustment, torque-reaction troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
  • Lift assists and lift tables - including the 600-03252 lift-table build; ergonomic setup, capacity verification, and pinch and crush-point guarding.
  • End effectors and build tooling - changeover, alignment, wear inspection, and coordination with Engineering on tooling revisions.
  • Torque tooling and fastening systems - DC electric and pneumatic torque tools, torque-arm integration, calibration currency, and NOK (not-OK fastening) rundown troubleshooting.
  • Controls and drive systems - PLC and control-system troubleshooting, AC/DC motors, starters, relays, VFDs, and power and control wiring.
  • Fluid power and conveyance - pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, cylinders, pumps, valves, conveyor and material-handling systems.
Leadership, Communication, and Daily Operating Rhythm
  • Serve as the first line of communication to leadership on workcenter, equipment, and process performance, blockers, and team status.
  • Communicate status, escalations, and blockers with cross-functional leads in upstream and downstream processes, and share lessons learned to drive continuous organizational improvement.
  • Partner with your Operations Manager to plan and execute daily activities and assign tasks within the work group; re-prioritize in real time as production demand shifts.
  • Lead daily team meeting facilitation and end-of-shift reporting, and coordinate efforts to minimize production interruptions.
  • Provide clear written and verbal instructions to group members and promptly address process or technical questions and concerns.
  • Resolve team work blockers and general team needs; elevate what you cannot resolve with a recommendation attached.

Technical Ownership and Problem Solving
  • Act as the subject matter expert on all process paths within your area of responsibility, and be the first point of contact for process issues - including providing guidance when the team needs to deviate from written instructions.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, controls, and process problems, including tasks with no existing documentation, and lift ??? (placeholder?)
  • Make and support decisions involving resource constraints, balancing competing priorities across the workcenter.
  • Troubleshoot issues encountered by peers across the specialized equipment set and on the manufacturing systems that support it.
  • Lead root-cause analysis on repeat equipment failures and fastening or torque defects, and drive the corrective action to closure.
