Job summary

PRT Staffing is seeking an experienced Machine Maintenance Technician to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Georgia. The role involves independently maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving complex production equipment, with a focus on reliability and safe operations.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, advanced troubleshooting skills, and hands-on experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and automated systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and mechanical repair experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge including relays, start/stop stations, electrical load calculations.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certifications for powered industrial vehicles and overhead crane operations within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and perform maintenance and repair activities on production machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues utilizing advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Dismantle, rebuild, and reassemble machinery and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain conveyors, paint systems, and various industrial process equipment.
  • Interpret sketches, schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and written instructions to complete repairs accurately.
  • Recommend corrective actions and equipment improvements to increase performance and reliability.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on production equipment.
  • Evaluate maintenance effectiveness and recommend process improvements.
  • Support preventative maintenance activities on automated systems including robots and laser equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing equipment downtime and increasing efficiency.
  • Apply Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies and best practices.
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Utilize knowledge of watts, volts, amps, ohms, and electrical load calculations.
  • Troubleshoot electrical control components including relays, motor starters, and start/stop circuits.
  • Support automated equipment and PLC-controlled systems.
  • Perform equipment installations involving compressed air, gas, rigging, and related utilities.
  • Assist with the development and training of maintenance team members.
  • Share knowledge and best practices to improve team performance.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to resolve equipment issues.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all company safety policies.
  • Lead and support 5S workplace organization initiatives.
  • Participate in housekeeping and safety audits.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO quality and environmental standards.
  • Safely operate powered industrial equipment and overhead cranes.
  • Maintain required certifications and qualifications.
  • Participate in facility improvement projects.
  • Support production needs during equipment breakdowns and emergencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for independently performing maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous improvement activities on complex production equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, advanced troubleshooting skills, and experience working with hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and automated systems.

This role plays a critical part in maintaining equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting safe and efficient production operations through preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Advanced Maintenance & Equipment Repair
  • Independently plan and perform maintenance and repair activities on production machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues utilizing advanced troubleshooting techniques.

  • Experience supporting robotic or automated manufacturing equipment.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience, military service, certifications, and demonstrated skills will be considered.
