Job summary

Invenergy LLC seeks an Assistant General Counsel to provide professional legal advice and guidance to its business development and operations in Mexico. The role covers regulatory matters, complex commercial transactions, real estate, and compliance across energy projects.

The candidate should have JD degree with 6–8 years’ experience, be fluent in English and Spanish, and able to work with minimal supervision across offices. This is a full-time position based in Mexico City.

Qualifications

  • JD degree required; bar admission where applicable.
  • 6–8 years of experience in law firm or in-house counsel.
  • Ability to draft and negotiate contracts in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with energy sector transactions (PPAs, M&A, joint ventures) is preferred.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and cross-border teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support on regulatory matters for energy projects in Mexico.
  • Support commercial transactions including PPAs, M&A, and joint ventures.
  • Handle real estate matters, land use licenses, ROWs, and permits.
  • Advise on environmental, tax, and labor/employment issues as needed.
  • Draft and negotiate contracts of all types (services, O&M, supply, employment).
  • Participate in the Compliance Committee.
