Job summary

Walser Automotive Group in Eden Prairie, MN, seeks a Service Manager to lead day-to-day service operations, coordinating between technicians and customers to deliver an exceptional dealership experience.

You will recruit and develop staff, oversee payroll and incentive reporting, and ensure adherence to Walser and Manufacturer standards. This role includes performance reviews, training, and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year service writing experience.
• Strong data entry and computer skills.
• Ability to operate Word, Excel and Manufacturer websites.
• Excellent phone and computer skills.
• Prior supervisory or management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that customers receive prompt, courteous, and effective service.
• Serve as a liaison between technicians and customers.
• Take ownership of the customer's experience to leave a positive dealership impression.
• Manage and hire technicians and service advisors.
• Interview and make new hires.
• Distribute work between technicians.
• Prioritize required services.
• Ensure customer has a positive dealership experience.
• Provide concierge support for owner inquiries, phone or in person.
• Spend time building relationships with customers.
• Maintain staff trained to Walser and Manufacturer standards.
• Manage rental and courtesy vehicle fleet.
• Submit payroll and incentive reports for all employees.
• Support career development of staff.
• Lead by example and advocate for staff.
• Assist in end of day cashier close and training cashiers.
• Wear safety eyewear in service areas; wear safety shoes.
• All other duties as assigned.

Compensation: $85,000-$95,000 base salary, based on experience, plus performance-based incentives with total annual earning potential of up to $130,000.

What You'll Do:

• Ensure that customers receive prompt, courteous, and effective service
• Serve as a liaison between technicians and customers
• Take ownership of the customer's experience by carrying out those additional assignments that allow the dealership to leave a positive impression with the customer
• Manage and hire technicians and service advisors
• Interview and make new hires
• Distribute work between technicians
• Prioritize required services
• Ensure customer has a positive dealership experience
• Provide concierge support for all owner inquiries, whether phone or in person, to assure the customer does not get mishandled
• Spend quality time building relationships with the customers
• Maintain all staff is properly trained to both Walser and Manufacturer standards
• Manage rental and courtesy vehicle Fleet
• Perform Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly Performance reviews or one on ones for all employees
• Submit Payroll for all employees including incentive reports
• Support the career and professional development of staff
• Lead by example and be an advocate for staff
• Assist in end of day cashier close, cashiering customer and training cashiers when necessary
• Must wear safety eyewear at all times when in dealership service departments
• Must wear hard-toed shoes and slip resistant footwear in when in dealership service departments
• All other duties, tasks and/or projects as assigned

What You Bring:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Minimum one year service writing experience
• Must have strong data entry skills to enter information onto the computer and other warranty systems
• Ability to operate current computer software (Word, Excel, Manufacturer website, etc.)
• Excellent phone and computer skills
• ADP experience highly desiredA good understanding of automotive parts and cars is desired
• Ability to assess and report on warranty repairs
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be extremely detail oriented
• Must have a positive attitude and work well in a team environment
• Customer service mentality and professional demeanor
• Prior supervisory or management experience a plus
• Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
