Additional information about the company can be found at WhirlpoolCorp.com. ## **This role in summary**Our Greenville facility is hiring a **Metrology Technician** to develop, evaluate, and maintain the sophisticated calibration systems used to measure physical and chemical phenomena.**Key Responsibilities & Goals:*** Define the operational standards* Ensure that all instrumentation meets rigorous accuracy and precision requirements* Combine physics, mathematics, and engineering to quantify and minimize measurement uncertainty.To be considered, you **must** submit an up-to-date resume.## **Your responsibilities will include*** **Measurement System Governance**: Develop, evaluate, and maintain sophisticated calibration systems. Define the standards for base and derived units (length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, pressure, flow, velocity).* **Precision Metrology & Inspection**: Serve as the division expert for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Program, set up, and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). Use other precision tools like height gauges, optical comparators, and various plug and thread gauges.* **Error Analysis & Quality Improvement**: Identify and quantify sources of error (Uncertainty Analysis) and adjust measurement capabilities to minimize errors. Conduct process audits (Layered Process Audits) and perform root cause analysis (5W+1H, 5 Whys) to ensure quality compliance and defect prevention.* **Analytical Testing & Claims Resolution**: Perform analytical tests on raw materials and finished products (e.g., purity, particle size, hardness). Inspect products at job sites to substantiate customer claims and formulate compensation offers.* **Technical Leadership & Advocacy**: Direct engineering, quality, and laboratory teams in the design and selection of approved measurement standards. Serve as the internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) and represent the organization in industrial standardization committees (such as NIST or ISO).* **Equipment & Facility Maintenance**: Perform general maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of production and facility equipment, including electrical, mechanical, CNC, PLC, and robot automation.
