ABOUT THE TEAM

We are looking for an early-career Metrology Technician to join our Quality team and perform hands‑on dimensional inspections of the components and assemblies we design and manufacture. In this role you will spend the majority of your time operating coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and optical measurement systems, running established inspection programs and recording accurate measurement data. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to operate a portable CMM arm with 3D laser scanner for more complex geometry and large‑assembly work. You will work under the guidance of a metrology engineer, following documented procedures and inspection plans to support production throughput and product quality. As you grow in the role, there will be opportunities to learn how to program CMMs, optical systems, and portable arm routines. This role will support our 2nd shift teams and expected to work 3PM-11:30PM.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Operate CNC and manual CMMs and optical measurement systems to perform dimensional inspections of machined, molded, and assembled parts per established inspection plans.
• Load, run, and monitor existing CMM and optical inspection programs; fixture and align parts correctly for each routine.
• Use metrology hand tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, pin gages, thread gages) for quick checks and receiving inspections.
• Learn to operate a Faro portable arm with 3D laser scanner for large‑assembly and complex‑geometry inspections under the guidance of senior staff.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, including basic GD&T callouts, to understand what features to measure and the applicable tolerances.
• Record measurement results accurately and completely in inspection reports and data systems.
• Flag out‑of‑tolerance conditions and elevate to senior technicians or quality engineers for disposition.
• Perform daily startup checks and basic maintenance on CMM and optical equipment; keep the metrology lab clean, organized, and audit‑ready.
• Follow all quality management system procedures (AS9100) and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED; technical coursework, vocational training, or an Associate's degree in a related field is a plus.
• Up to 2 years of experience operating a CMM or performing dimensional inspection (internships, co‑ops, and school lab time count).
• Basic familiarity with metrology hand tools (calipers, micrometers, gages).
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand basic dimensional tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical, quality‑first mindset.
• Willingness to learn new equipment and software in a hands‑on environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Exposure to CMM or optical measurement software such as PolyWorks, PC‑DMIS, Calypso, or OGP Zone3.
• Introductory knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5).
• Experience in a manufacturing, machine shop, or quality lab setting.
• Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
• Interest in growing into CMM, optical, and portable arm programming as well as 3D scanning and broader metrology disciplines over time.

US Hourly Range $32 — $43 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
