In this role, you will blend hands‑on inspection with data‑driven engineering analysis. You will be responsible for developing automated inspection routines for CMMs, creating alignment strategies for large- scale laser tracker measurements, and analyzing dimensional data to provide actionable feedback to the entire organization. Your work will support the full product lifecycle, from initial R&D and prototyping to process validation and full‑rate production within our AS9100 certified system. This role requires a problem‑solver's mindset and a passion for turning data into manufacturing improvement.

  • Analyze inspection data to perform root cause analysis, support statistical process control (SPC) initiatives, and conduct capability studies.
  • Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineers to provide Design for Manufacturability/Inspectability (DFM/DFI) feedback on new products.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D CAD models to create comprehensive inspection plans that effectively validate GD&T requirements.
  • Generate clear and concise inspection reports and present findings to cross‑functional teams to drive corrective actions.
  • Support the development and documentation of standard operating procedures for metrology processes within our AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Assist in maintaining metrology equipment calibration and contribute to the selection of new measurement technology.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing, quality, or metrology engineering role.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in interpreting and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per the ASME Y14.5 standard.
  • Hands‑on experience with at least one major metrology software platform (PC‑DMIS, Polyworks, or Spatial Analyzer), with a strong aptitude to become proficient in others.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment governed by a formal Quality Management System (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and 3D CAD models.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Direct programming experience with multiple metrology platforms (e.g., proficiency in both PC‑DMIS and Spatial Analyzer).
  • Hands‑on experience with both fixed CMMs and portable metrology equipment (laser trackers, portable arms).
  • Experience creating First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to the AS9102 standard.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (such as NX or SolidWorks) for interrogating models.
