Job summary

Bloom Energy is seeking a Metrology Technician for our Fremont, CA facility. This on-site role supports metrology engineering activities on a 6am–6pm day shift, Sunday through Tuesday with alternating Wednesdays.

You will operate and troubleshoot high-precision inspection systems, perform calibrations, gauge R&R studies, and collaborate across teams to ensure measurement accuracy, safety, and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical certifications preferred.
• 4+ years in manufacturing or related environment.
• Experience operating high-precision machinery and vision inspection systems.
• Strong attention to detail with safety and quality focus.
• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
• Able to follow directions, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly.
• Familiarity with optics and vision programming preferred.
• Must wear PPE and work in a controlled environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide shift coverage (weekends) of all Metrology Engineering activities across multiple functional areas for fuel cell manufacturing.
• Respond rapidly to metrology equipment downtime, verify defects, optimize inspection software, and troubleshoot optical/mechanical/electrical systems.
• Identify abnormal conditions, coordinate containment actions and implement corrective measures with cross-functional teams.
• Communicate effectively and deliver clear, timely daily reports to the team.

We are looking for a Metrology Technician to join our team in one of today's most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Metrology and will be based in Fremont, CA. This is a fully on-site, in factory role.

Responsibilities:

• Provide shift coverage (weekends) of all Metrology Engineering activities across multiple functional areas for fuel cell manufacturing.
• Provide rapid response to metrology and inspection equipment downtime and out-of-control conditions. Responsibilities include verifying the validity of detected defects, optimizing inspection software to minimize false rejects, and troubleshooting issues across optical, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Demonstrate the ability to identify and respond to abnormal conditions, coordinating containment actions and implementing corrective measures within a cross-functional team environment.
• Communicate effectively with team members and deliver clear, timely daily reports to the team.
• Perform routine measurements, conduct equipment calibrations, and execute Gauge R&R studies to ensure measurement accuracy and system reliability.

Efficiency and Workmanship:

Ensure work meets or exceeds company workmanship standards. Continuously improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or relevant coursework preferred.

Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED); technical certifications or relevant coursework with at least 4 years of experience in manufacturing or related environment.
• Demonstrate hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting high-precision machinery and vision inspection systems.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach to technical issues.
• Ability to follow direction, meet deadlines, and collaborate in a team environment
• Excellent verbal and written skill set.
• Familiarity with optics and vision system programming is preferred.
• Adhere to safety requirements and ability to work in a controlled environment wearing personal protective safety equipment (PPE).

Salary Ranges:
