Job summary

KLA is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to lead a hardware systems engineering group in Ann Arbor, directing complex instrument designs and driving next-generation metrology tools. You will partner with multifunctional teams, management, and external partners.

The role requires 10+ years in hardware development, people management, and strong problem-solving with experience in high vacuum and electron-beam instruments; travel up to 15% may be required. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience developing complex hardware/capital equipment.
• Experience leading engineers through concept-to-release development.
• Solid understanding of precision instruments and control systems.
• Experience with high vacuum systems.
• Experience with electron beam based instruments such as scanning electron microscopes.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed requirement specifications from performance requirements using systems engineering methodology.
• Develop and implement design improvements for current products and novel next-generation products.
• Apply systems engineering to optimize instrument performance.
• Lead team to develop and test system design improvements and validate specs.
• Lead field customer concerns and provide plans of action remotely or on-site at customer sites worldwide.
• Write high-level technical reports communicating issues, analyses, and recommendations.
• Design and drive multidisciplinary experiments and write test plans for systems testing.
• Coordinate with service, manufacturing and marketing to optimize system performance and resolve issues.
• Coordinate with outside vendors to develop and deliver sub-system products.
• Lead engineers to design, integrate and test engineering prototype systems.
