Job summary
Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Carlsbad, CA is seeking a Measurements Engineer to manage calibration, validation, and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation. The role focuses on applying advanced measurement science, developing test plans, and supporting data-driven improvements on analytical equipment.
We seek candidates with a technical degree and 2–3 years of experience in measurement science, calibration, and instrument maintenance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Metrology, or related field.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in measurement science, instrumentation, calibration, laboratory engineering, or related field.
- Knowledge of calibration principles, statistical analysis, and measurement uncertainty preferred.
- Proficiency with Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with LabVIEW and/or 3D design software preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop calibration plans, procedures, validation protocols, and supporting technical methods.
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules for laboratory instrumentation and ensure reliability.
- Collaborate with R&D to improve measurement systems and implement new instrumentation technologies.
- Support quality systems, data analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
- Provide technical documentation and cross‑functional communication.
