Job summary

Quest Global is seeking a metrology professional to provide technical leadership for calibration operations in the Windsor Locks, CT laboratory. This on-site role focuses on calibration, instrumentation, and measurement systems within a manufacturing and testing environment.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5+ years in metrology or related fields, with strong analytical and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years experience in metrology, calibration, instrumentation, or lab operations.
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 or equivalent.
  • Ability to develop and maintain technical procedures and reports.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and root cause investigation skills.
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement and automation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support for the Metrology Laboratory, including calibration operations and troubleshooting.
  • Develop, review, revise, and maintain calibration procedures and technical documentation.
  • Support maintenance, qualification, validation, and continuous improvement of laboratory equipment and measurement systems.
  • Lead and support laboratory automation initiatives and calibration processes.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement to improve efficiency and throughput.
  • Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to metrology technicians.
  • Prepare technical reports, participate in reviews and audits, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support for the Metrology Laboratory, including calibration operations, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex metrology, instrumentation, and measurement system issues.
  • Develop, review, revise, and maintain calibration procedures, technical documentation, engineering instructions, and work instructions.
  • Support the maintenance, qualification, validation, and continuous improvement of laboratory equipment and measurement systems while ensuring calibration processes comply with applicable quality, customer, regulatory, and laboratory requirements.
  • Lead and support laboratory automation initiatives, including the evaluation, implementation, testing, and validation of automated calibration processes and equipment.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to improve laboratory efficiency, equipment availability, calibration throughput, and operational effectiveness.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to metrology technicians while documenting critical technical knowledge, engineering practices, and laboratory processes.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering analyses, and status updates; participate in engineering reviews, audits, and cross-functional activities; and coordinate with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality, and other organizations to support laboratory and production schedules.
What You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and minimum 5 years experience
  • Demonstrated experience in metrology, calibration, instrumentation, measurement systems, or laboratory operations.
  • Working knowledge of calibration principles, measurement science, uncertainty analysis, and applicable standards such as ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, or equivalent.
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical procedures, work instructions, engineering documentation, and technical reports.
  • Experience troubleshooting laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and automated measurement systems, with the ability to perform strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement and automation initiatives, mentor technicians, collaborate across functional organizations, and manage multiple priorities independently.
Pay Range: $95,000 - $115,000 a year

Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.

Work Requirements:

This role is considered an on-site position located in Windsor Locks, CT.

  • You must be able to commute to and from the location with your own transportation arrangements to meet the required working hours.
  • Shop floor environment, which may include but not limited to extensive walking, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Travel Requirements:

Due to the nature of the work, no travel is required.

Citizenship Requirement:

Due to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship is required.
