Job Summary

Under general direction, this position is responsible for teaching and training students the principles and practices of dimensional measurement, quality assurance, and inspection technologies. Deliver theoretical and hands-on instruction covering traditional and advanced measurement methods, including the use of calipers, micrometers, CMMs, optical comparators, and non-contact inspection tools. Prepare students for careers in quality control within manufacturing, engineering, and related industries by emphasizing precision, standards compliance, and data analysis.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instruction & Training (45%): Deliver lessons on precision measuring instruments, conduct practical labs, supervise calibration and maintenance of equipment, and teach operation and programming of advanced inspection tools.
  • Lab Supervision: Oversee students in lab environments, ensure safety and proper use of equipment, and maintain lab tools and machinery.
  • Curriculum Development: Design and update course content to align with industry standards and technological advancements.
  • Student Assessment: Evaluate student skills, provide feedback, and support certification efforts.
  • Industry Engagement: Maintain connections with industry to stay current with trends and ensure training relevance.
  • Miscellaneous: Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
  • Credentialing requirements set by Indian River State College
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with precision measuring instruments
  • Strong knowledge of CMMs, optical comparators, and inspection systems
  • Understanding of GD&T standards
  • Familiarity with calibration, measurement system analysis, and documentation
  • Experience teaching or delivering technical training
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Strong organizational skills and passion for teaching
  • Ability to explain complex concepts clearly
  • Engagement skills for diverse backgrounds
  • Technical expertise with a passion for developing technicians
Physical Demands

This role requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, reaching, and manual dexterity, including lifting items over 25 pounds and working extended periods at a computer.
