Join MTPD | WMATA Join MTPD Metro Transit Police is seeking decisive and intelligent decision-makers with the discipline, dedication, and initiative to make our system a safe and welcoming space. As a full-fledged police department within a unique environment that stretches across the DMV, we serve and protect millions of bus, rail and Access customers every year. Qualifications, pay, and benefits

To qualify to become a MTPD officer, you must pass a rigorous background check, meet physical agility requirements, and demonstrate psychological readiness. You must also have a valid driver’s license. Lean more about MTPD eligibility requirements. If you qualify and are hired, you’ll be eligible for a competitive starting salary and excellent benefits. If you have prior law enforcement experience, you may be able to enter MTPD service with a higher starting salary.

Pay

We offer a starting salary of $74,505 for entry-level police officer positions. Applicants with prior law enforcement will be offered a starting salary that is commensurate with their years of experience to a maximum of five years. The maximum starting salary is currently $91,906. Applicants with military, corrections and higher education may also qualify for higher entry level salaries not to exceed $91,906.
