Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking an Area Dispatcher to organize daily driver dispatches for a metro area, coordinating with Operations Managers and Inside Sales to ensure timely deliveries and excellent service.

You will monitor progress, adjust schedules, maximize loads, and support branches with changes to equipment location or delivery times while upholding safety and compliance. This role requires a high school diploma, a valid license, and knowledge of DOT rules; we value leadership,

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Technical knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership, organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dispatch of drivers within the metro-area to maximize efficiency and customer delivery responsiveness.
• Monitor driver progress and adjust schedules as pick-up and delivery orders come in.
• Maximize truck loads outbound and inbound.
• Optimize use of overtime and outside haulers to deliver superior customer service.
• As needed, support branches in maintaining customer relations via phone, making additions, cancellations, and changes regarding equipment location or delivery time.
• Demonstrate commitment to safety and discipline through exemplary personal compliance, accountability and pro-active communication.
• Perform all safety inspections within company and governmental policies.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
