Job summary

Ocean Ecology, part of DNV, is seeking a practical Metocean Engineer/Oceanographer to deliver coastal and nearshore monitoring projects. You will handle deployment of ADCPs, AWACs, tide gauges and water-quality profilers, from survey planning to data reporting.

You will mobilise equipment, perform tidal current and wave surveys, analyse datasets and prepare technical reports, collaborating with project managers and marine specialists while adhering to QHSE standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or higher in science, engineering, or oceanography.
• 2+ years industry experience in a technical/engineering role.
• Hands-on deployment of metocean instrumentation.
• Fieldwork or marine survey experience.
• Attention to detail and teamwork.
• MS Office, data loggers and telemetry interfaces.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Offshore survival and medical certificates (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Prepare, test and maintain oceanographic and environmental monitoring equipment.
• Mobilise and deploy instrumentation in coastal, estuarine and offshore environments.
• Conduct tidal current, wave and water quality monitoring surveys.
• Support vessel operations and fieldwork activities.
• Download, process and quality-check environmental datasets.
• Prepare technical reports and survey summaries.
• Collaborate with project managers and environmental specialists to ensure safe project delivery.
• Adhere to QHSE procedures and ISO management systems.
