A Day in the Life of a Meter Technician

You’ll be out in the field supporting the installation, inspection, and maintenance of water metering systems across the San Jose area. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality service for residential communities while helping our client uphold their reputation for reliability and excellence in sub-metering services.

Responsibilities include:

• Install, inspect, repair, and service water meters and related equipment
• Conduct accurate meter readings and handle customer service calls
• Perform site inspections and document detailed findings
• Troubleshoot leaks, pressure issues, and system errors
• Pick up and deliver meter components as needed
• Maintain and clean your assigned company vehicle
• Submit timecards, expenses, and daily reports in a timely manner
• Follow all safety procedures and use equipment properly
• Organize and track inventory and deliveries
• Join weekly vehicle inspections and team safety meetings

Requirements and Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience in meter technician, fieldwork, or similar work
• 1+ years of experience installing, repairing, and inspecting water meters, meter pits, meter reading equipment, valves, pressure regulators, and flow testing meters
• Valid driver’s license with a clean DMV record
• Comfortable using tablets, mobile apps, and inventory tracking systems
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather
• Physically capable of crouching, climbing ladders, and walking
• Willingness to travel to worksites in LA
