Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Meter Reader in The Villages, FL. You will join a collaborative team to read meters, maintain equipment, and support municipal utilities in a safe, efficient manner.

You will record readings, report defects, and perform basic repairs on meters and lines while ensuring accuracy and customer satisfaction on your assigned route.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license with no major infractions.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing and water meter installation and repair.
• Ability to read meters and perform basic maintenance tasks.
• Ability to interpret meter readings and explain results to customers.
• Able to perform routine mathematical calculations accurately.
• Able to interact tactfully with the public.

Responsibilities

• Read meters and record readings on assigned route.
• Ensure meters are functioning properly and report defects.
• Repair leaks and broken lines; turn meters on/off; assist with installation of meters and boxes.

As a Meter Reader, you'll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. Based in The Villages, FL, you'll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks in the reading and maintenance of water meters. You'll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to complex challenges that may arise in municipal facilities. You'll read meters and record readings on an assigned route; ensure meters are functioning properly; report defective meters and meter skip; and interpret and explain readings to customers. You'll also repair leaks and broken lines; turn meters on and off, install or assist with installation of meters and boxes; and perform other duties as required. Most importantly, you'lltake actionto ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.

• Knowledge of the local geography of streets within the city
• Ability to write legibly
• Able to make routine mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately

The base salary range for this position is $36,100.00 to $51,700.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
