Job description

The City of Bennettsville has an opening in the Utility Billing Department for a Meter Reader. Applicant should have a high school diploma and a minimum of 1 year of experience in a job related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Previous experience in meter reading is a plus.

Responsibilities include:

1. Locate, read and record gas, electric and water meter readings.
2. Turn utilities off and on as directed.
3. Respond to customer inquiries and explain usage.

Possession of a valid SC Driver’s License is required.

The starting salary for this position is $32,427.20/yr. ($15.59/hr.). Starting salary will commensurate with years of experience.
